New miniature aluminium electrolytic capacitors benefit from ultra-low ESR values

Panasonic Automotive and Industrial Systems Europe has introduced a new series of miniature aluminium electrolytic capacitors (radial lead type) for applications such as unit power supply output, noise filtering, DC-DC converter and back-up power. New FS series capacitors benefit from low ESR values (down to 12mohm), a small footprint (one size smaller than popular FR series components) and high endurance of 5.000h up to 10.000h at 105C. Fully RoHS compliant, FS series capacitors have been designed for a wide operating temperature range of -40C up to +105C. The products feature a rated voltage range of 6.3VDC up to 50VDC, a capacitance range of 27µF up to 10000µF, and a capacitance tolerance of ±20% (120Hz/+20C). Leakage current is =0.01CV (µA) after two minutes. Andreas Lapucha, product marketing manager Capacitors at Panasonic comments: “The FS Series provides space reduction and allows for a reduced number of capacitors on the board. Low ESR and high ripple current in the FS Series combine to provide a more stable, long life capacitor alternative. The characteristics of the FS Series promises to be very useful for power instruments, home appliances, set top box, servers and lighting.”
