New type of brake resistor for engineered applications with high energy pulses

31-07-2017 | Vincotech | Passives

Vincotech has released a new type of ultra-compact brake resistor engineered to absorb higher energy pulses. The Q992-A module for motion control brake chopper applications offers utmost reliability at a remarkably low price. This new brake resistor features in highly reliable thick-film-on-ceramic technology with 4kV isolation to the heat sink, an ultra-low profile and a fast-on terminal. The perfect solution for motion control brake chopper applications, this resistor delivers excellent performance at a resistance value of 400ohm/200W (tolerance 20%) and 2kW peak power. The design enables easy, economical assembly: It is simply mounted to a heat sink using pre-applied thermal interface material. Measuring just 42.2mm x 27.86mm x 6.09mm, this inrush current resistor is extremely compact.
