Microchip has a new family of compact ADCs that provide high programmable data rates of up to 153.6kSPS. The 24-bit MCP356x and 16-bit MCP346x, delta-sigma ADC families, provide faster programmable data rates over comparable devices on the market while giving high accuracy and lower noise performance. Available in a tiny 3mm x 3mm UQFN-20 package, these highly integrated ADCs meet the growing demand for small packaging in space-constrained applications such as portable instrumentation devices.
Many high-resolution delta-sigma ADCs available today have slower programmable data rates of a few kSPS. The families provide a faster data rate, making the devices excellent for a mixture of precision applications that need different data speeds, incorporating factory automation, industrial process control, and sensor transducers and transmitters. The ADCs also provide integrated features to remove the requirement for external components and decrease the overall cost of a system and includes an internal oscillator, temperature sensor and burnout current source.
The new families offer 24-bit or 16-bit resolution, two/four/eight single-ended or one/two/four differential channel options, enabling developers to select the most suitable ADC for their designs.
