High-performance digital proximity ambient light RGB and gesture sensor

Mouser now stocks the Avago Technologies APDS-9960 digital proximity ambient light RGB and gesture sensor. The device features advanced gesture detection, proximity detection, digital ambient light sense (ALS) and colour sense (RGBC) capabilities. Its slim modular package measures 3.94mm x 2.36mm x 1.35mm. The device incorporates an IR LED and factory-calibrated LED driver for drop-in compatibility with existing footprints. Gesture detection utilizes four directional photodiodes to sense reflected IR energy (sourced by the integrated LED) to convert physical motion information (i.e. velocity, direction and distance) to digital format for applications such as gesture detection, colour sense, ambient light sensing, cell phone touch screen disable and replacement of mechanical switches.
