Metal electrode leadless face (MELF) resistor series now offers smaller 0102 size

31-03-2015 | Stackpole | Passives

Stackpole has extended its MLF and MLFM Series to include the smaller 0102 size. The device is approximately the size of an 0805 chip resistor and is rated up to 1/5W. Tolerances for the series range from ±5% down to ±0.1% and TCR's range from ±100ppm down to ±10ppm, making the MLF and MLFM useful for a wide range of applications ranging from general purpose high volume to precision applications. In addition, MELFs are well known for their long-term stability and performance as well as their exceptional low self-heating. Typical resistance shifts for MELFs under long term life testing and short time overload testing range from 0.5% down to 0.15% depending on size. This is significantly better than most film chip resistors. Finally, the expected hot spot temperatures for a MELF package are only 60% of a comparable flat chip resistor, says the company.
