A new series of X2 EMI suppression capacitors with stable capacitance
values, even under extremely humid conditions, has been announced by
TDK-Epcos.
With operating voltages of up to 305VAC, the B3292H/J series comprises types
with rated capacitances ranging from 0.1µF to 15µF and lead spacings from
15mm to 37.5mm. The operating temperature range is from -40C to +110C. In
addition, the capacitors, which employ a metallized polypropylene dielectric
(MKP), also feature exceptional self-healing properties that allow weak
dielectric areas to be burned out in the event of over-voltages.
The robust capacitors perform reliably under severe ambient conditions,
easily passing the damp heat test where they must operate for at least 1000
hours at a temperature of 85C, a relative humidity of 85 percent and a
voltage of 240VAC without a change in capacitance of 10 percent or more.
The X2 capacitors are ideal for applications in harsh environments, such as
the capacitive power supplies in outdoor energy meters, for example, and in
across-the-line industrial applications, says the company.
