TinyGreenPC has launched a fully-upgradeable and expandable fanless PC
offering four times the performance and memory capacity of the previous
fanless FitPC2 in a unit 30% smaller.
Based on an AMD Quad Core processor, the new 'fitlet' offers an
unprecedented level of expandability for a pocket-size fanless PC. Memory,
storage, network, extension cards and operating system can all easily be
installed and upgraded by the user. Incorporating the quad-core AMD A4
Micro-6700T, the TinyGreenPC fitlet features up to 8GB of memory, Radeon R3
graphics, up to 6GB of solid state STA storage and up to 4GbE LAN ports.
The central feature of fitlet is its FACET interface (Function and
Connectivity T-card). This interface provides 3PCIe lanes, USB and LPC bus
on a standard mini-PCIe connector, giving incredible freedom to OEMs to
tailor the PC to their needs. Users can add any off-the-shelf card, but most
are likely to install purpose built FACET cards incorporating multiple
interfaces and connectors. Electrical and mechanical specifications for
FACET are in the public domain, allowing third parties to design their own
extensions to fitlet.
Three fitlet models are available. Fitlet-I offers the full specification
described above, plus WLAN, micro-SD, 6 USB ports, powered SATA, RS-232,
SMBUS, UART, 8 GPIOs and provision for mobile data communications. The
fitlet-X incorporates a FACET LAN card, providing four GbE ports. The entry
level fitlet-B is powered by a dual-core AMD processor and makes a powerful
and cost effective building block for robotics, telemetry and basic digital
signage applications, says the company.
