Vishay Precision Group (VPG) Powertron has announced the expansion of its S-Line of precision foil current-sense resistors with five new SHR series devices. Offered in a wide range of anodized aluminium package sizes, the made-in-Germany SHR 4-8065, SHR 4-80110, SHR 4-80216, SHR 4-80320, and SHR 4-80370 combine a low TCR of ±2 ppm/K with extremely high power ratings to 2500W. Offering load stability to 0.1% for up to 1,000 hours, the RoHS-compliant SHR 4-8065, SHR 4-80110, SHR 4-80216, SHR 4-80320, and SHR 4-80370 provide highly accurate and reliable current sensing in industrial power supplies, digital multimeters, current control systems, medical equipment, solar and wind inverters, and AC/DC converters, as well as systems such as battery chargers and test equipment for electric vehicles. The resistors offer a wide range of power ratings - from 24W in free air to 2500W when mounted on a heatsink - with low resistance values from 0.005ohm to 300ohm and tight tolerances to ±0.1%. The devices feature maximum currents to 60A (with higher values and currents available upon request), very low inductance of <50nh, thermal EMF of <1 µV/C, and a temperature range of -40C to +130C. "The choice of a precision resistor can have far-reaching effects on system performance," said Kai Karstensen, managing director, Powertron. "For measurement instruments, semiconductor test equipment, consumer electronics, and other applications that demand stability, reliability, and precision, our SHR series of foil current sense resistors offers the perfect solution."
