Mouser now stocks Atmel's SAM C21 Xplained Pro Evaluation Kit, a low-cost
hardware platform for evaluating the Atmel ATSAMC21J18A microcontroller.
Supported by the Atmel Studio integrated development platform, the kit
provides easy access to the features of the ATSAMC21J18A and explains how to
integrate the device into a custom design.
The kit allows developers to easily evaluate the ATSAMC21J18A
microcontroller without requiring any external programming or debugging
tools. The kit contains an onboard Atmel Embedded Debugger (EDBG) with
virtual COM port and a Data Gateway Interface (SPI, I2C, and four GPIOs) for
bidirectional communication between the ATSAMC21J18A and host computer.
Together with Atmel Studio development platform, the EDBG debugger interface
can program and debug the ATSAMC21J18A. Level converters allow selectable
target voltages of 3.3V and 5V.
The onboard ATSAMC21J18A microcontroller is based on an ARM(r) Cortex-M0+
processor running at up to 48MHz and comes with 256Kbytes of flash memory
and 32Kbytes of SRAM. The SAM C21 Xplained Pro kit contains a mounted
32.768kHz crystal and a footprint for higher-frequency crystals that can be
used as clock sources. The kit also includes an Atmel QTouch capacitive
touch-sense button and two mechanical buttons (user and reset).
The SAM C21 kit features a variety of input/output options, including a
digital-to-analog converter (DAC) output connector, LIN and CAN transceiver
connectors, Cortex external debugging connector, and three sets of extension
headers. The board also has a set of Arduino(tm) Uno R3 compatible expansion
connectors that can connect to compatible Arduino shields. The board can be
powered through the Embedded Debugger USB port or by an external 5VDC 1A
power supply.
With the SAM C21 Xplained Pro Evaluation Kit, developers can quickly
prototype designs for industrial automation, appliance and automotive
solutions.
