Epson's programmable voltage controlled oscillator (VCXO) with LVPECL
outputs, the VG7050ECN is now available from Digi-Key. It is a low-jitter
fractional-n PLL which provides tuning over a range of 50 to 800MHz with
2ppb resolution.
Power is low (<90mA) and integrated phase jitter is below 0.3ps rms (12kHz
and 20MHz). The VG7050ECN uses a fundamental crystal for reliable
operation, including start-up at low temperatures. The VG7050ECN has four
default frequencies, selectable with two pins. Frequency can be reprogrammed
via I2C bus. The VG7050ECN operates from a 2.5V or 3.3V supply and is
packaged in a 7mm x 5mm x 1.5mm 10-pin ceramic package. Operating
temperature is -40C to +85C.
Typical applications include SONET/SDH, OTN, GbE and fibre-channel systems.
