High-resolution motion-feedback encoder kits suit many needs

Mouser is now shipping the AEDC-55xx and AEDM 5810 motion feedback encoders from Avago Technologies. The high-resolution encoder module kits include a built-in interpolator and are designed for quick assembly and reliable connector retention in a wide range of commercial and industrial motion control applications. Each kit contains an AEDT-981x module, an ASIC with integrated photo detector arrays, LED current regulation, interpolator and output driver circuitry, and a film code wheel that rotates between the emitter and detector ASIC. The AEDC-55xx kits feature a latching connector design, and the AEDM-5810 kit includes a patented snap-on cover - all enabling quick assembly. The AEDC-55xx modules enable a high resolution up to 2,500 or 5,000 counts per revolution (CPR), depending on the model, and the AEDM-5810 module offers resolutions up to 5,000 CPR. The outputs of the kits are two square waves in quadrature with a third channel that offers a 90-electrical-degree, true index pulse that is generated once for each full rotation of the code wheel.
