ICOP Technology has introduced a new rugged PC/104 single-board computer
(SBC) with 1GHz dual-core DM&P Vortex86 DX3 processor and EtherCAT support
for ISA bus based industrial control technologies.
The VDX3-6755 PC/104 SBC with 2GB DDR3 not only delivers full PC/104
compliance and native ISA bus support without bridges but also comprehensive
support of the open EtherCAT standard for connected control automation
technologies in real-time environments. OEMs benefit from increased return
on investment by continued deployment of existing ISA bus based applications
for a further seven years, says the company.
To adapt field applications in harsh environments, the new ICOP Technology
PC/104 SBC is equipped with one CAN 2.0 bus module and two RS-232 interfaces
that are fully isolated against overvoltage of up to 2.5kV for both power
and signal lines. The RS485 is protected against electro static discharge
(ESD) of +/- 15kV. Even the two USB ports and PS/2 keyboard/mouse are 2.5kV
surge protected. Additionally, it fully supports the extended temperature
range from -20C to + 70C.
The DM&P Vortex86 DX3 integrated GPU delivers powerful graphics and supports
full HD resolution of 1920 x 1080 at 60 Hertz dual display for VGA and
24-bit LVDS as well as optional video capture functionalities. This makes
the new PC/104 board also suitable for cost-effective vision system designs
in pick and place and inspection applications.
For Ethernet and EtherCAT connectivity, the PC/104 VDX3-6755 SBC is equipped
with 1x Gigabit LAN based on the RTL8111F PCIe LAN chip, and one processor
integrated R6040 10/100Mbps LAN supporting the Acontis EtherCAT Master Stack
for real-time Linux and DOS.
The ICOP Technology PC/104 SBC supports a wide range of operating systems -
from DOS to Windows CE6.0, CE7.0, Windows 7, WES7, Windows XP Professional,
Windows Embedded Standard (XPe), POS Ready (WePOS) and Embedded Linux,
X-Linux and Linux right up to QNX (BSP), VxWorks (BSP) and FreeBSD.
ICOP also offers new ETX Computer-on-Modules based on new Vortex86DX3 SoC
which support legacy applications and are long-term available.
