The Analog Devices ADuM3123 isolated precision gate driver is now available
from Mouser stock. The 4A single-channel drivers were developed with Analog
Devices' Coupler technology to provide precision isolation. They offer
3000Vrms isolation in a narrow body 8-lead SOIC package.
Combining high speed CMOS and monolithic transformer technology, the devices
deliver outstanding performance characteristics superior to alternatives
such as the combination of pulse transformers and gate drivers, says the
company.
The devices operate with an input supply ranging from 3.0V to 5.5V,
providing compatibility with lower voltage systems. Compared to gate drivers
using high voltage level translation methodologies, the ADuM3123 devices
offer the benefit of true, galvanic isolation between the input and the
output. Designer can continuously operate the output up to 380Vrms relative
to the input. As a result, the ADuM3123 drivers provide reliable control for
the switching characteristics of IGBT/MOSFET configurations over a wide
range of positive or negative switching voltages.
Applications include switching power supplies, Isolated gate bipolar
transistors (IGBT)/MOSFET gate drives and industrial inverters.
