Tiny high-accuracy ambient light sensors feature easy-to-use I2C interface

08-03-2016 | Mouser Electronics | Test & Measurement

Featuring an easy-to-use I2C interface and housed in miniature transparent packages, Vishay's high-accuracy ambient light sensors are now stocked by Mouser. The digital sensors include a high sensitive photodiode, low-noise amplifier and a 16-bit A/D converter. The VEML have an operating voltage of 2.5V - 3.6V with an I2C BUS voltage range of 1.7V - 3.6V. These sensors include additional ambient light functions like an exceptional temperature compensation and high dynamic detection resolution with a software shutdown mode control. Applications include ambient light sensor for mobile devices (e.g. smart phones, touch phones, PDA, GPS) for backlight dimming; ambient light sensor for industrial on- / off-lighting operation; and optical switching for consumer, computing, and industrial devices and displays.
