Imagination Technologies has announced that Sunplus Technology's latest
audio / video processor for automotive applications features advanced
graphics enabled by a PowerVR GPU from Imagination. Taiwan-based Sunplus is
a leading provider of multimedia IC solutions for the home and automotive
markets. Its new SPHE6700 ADAS SoC is aimed at advanced driver assistance
systems (ADAS) and around view monitor (AVM) systems.
In addition to the advanced 3D graphics acceleration provided by the PowerVR
GPU, the SPHE6700 features support for up to 7-channel D1 or 4-channel HD
camera input with full HD video encoder for superior in-car image and video
processing, and an embedded AVM engine that converts camera signals into a
virtual bird's eye top view image. With this AVM engine, the chip has more
computing power to handle ADAS functions at the same time.
Commenting, Crystal Chu, director, Sunplus, said: "Advanced graphics and GPU
compute are fast becoming key differentiators in the automotive SoC market.
PowerVR GPUs provide these capabilities across a wide range of markets and
applications, and our customers can rely on this proven technology. Thanks
to our long history with Imagination and PowerVR, our new automotive SoC
provides a superior in-car experience."
Graham Deacon, senior director, PowerVR Business Operations, Imagination,
added: "The automotive industry is experiencing a renaissance through
advances in ADAS, autonomous driving, in-car connectivity, infotainment,
smart cameras and more - all areas where Imagination's IP is powering
industry-leading solutions. We are delighted that Sunplus has once again
chosen PowerVR as it further expands its reach into this growing market."
