A new series of automotive-grade radial aluminium capacitors has been introduced by Vishay. The 160 RLA Series features high-temperature operation up to +150C and a useful life to 2,000 h at +150C to provide high stability and reliability for both automotive and industrial applications.
The parts are available in ten case sizes from 10mm by 12mm to 18mm by 35mm. For enhanced reliability, the AEC-Q200-qualified capacitors offer very low impedance down to 23mohm at 100kHz, a high rated ripple current to 2,000mA at +150C, and a capacitance range from 33µF to 3300µF over a voltage range of 16V to 50V.
As polarized electrolytic capacitors with non-solid electrolytes, self-healing dielectrics, and radial leads, the 160 RLA series devices are seen as ideal for smoothing, filtering, and buffering in SMPS and DC-DC power supplies. The RoHS-compliant capacitors feature a cylindrical aluminium case with pressure relief - insulated with a blue PET sleeve - and are charge- and discharge-proof, so there is no peak current limitation, says the company.
