High-sensitivity optical sensor is complete solution for smoke detection applications

31-08-2016 | Mouser Electronics | Test & Measurement

Stocked by Mouser, the Maxim MAX30105 high-sensitivity optical sensor is an integrated particle-sensing module. The module includes internal LEDs, photodetectors, optical elements, and low-noise electronics with ambient light rejection. This device provides a complete system solution to ease the design-in process of smoke detection applications including fire alarms. Due to its extremely small size, the device can also be used as a smoke detection sensor for mobile and wearable devices. It operates from a single 1.8V power supply and a separate 5V power supply for the internal LEDs. The module communicates through a standard I2C-compatible interface. The device can be shut down through software with zero standby current, allowing the power rails to remain powered at all times.
