Receiver modules offer a photo detector and a preamplifier in single package

Vishay Minimold IR receiver modules offer a photo detector and a preamplifier in a single epoxy package. They are available now from Mouser. These receivers provide a demodulated output signal that can be directly connected to a microprocessor for decoding. These devices are optimised to be immune from interference from ambient light and spurious pulses from energy saving lamps like compact fluorescent lamps (CFLs). The TSOPxx1 series are offered primarily for compatibility with old AGC1 designs. New designs should utilise the TSOPxx3 series' containing the newer AGC3. The TSOPxx5 series' contain a very robust AGC5. This series should only be used for critically noisy environments.
