Following BVM's appointment as official distributor for Seiko Instruments’ printer mechanisms and portable printers for the UK and Ireland, they have introduced the new Edito range. These devices are direct-thermal kiosk printers, developed for high use environments. Typical applications include ATMs, vending, parking, retail kiosks information and check-in terminals, and photo booths. The range can be used in both indoor and outdoor kiosks. There are four models in the series: a basic cut and drop type, an output control version with anti-jam and pull protection, a model with presenter control to save paper handling and another with full present and retract functions. For ease of use and convenience, innovative features such as Feed and Print buttons are included on the front and rear of the printers and the multi-coloured illuminated bezel can be set to show the printer status.
All the printers use the highly reliable, wide -20C to +70C operating temperature CAPM347 printer mechanism. The flexible paper channel accepts paper width from 58mm to 83mm, and the large diameter seven-position paper arm, which allows paper rolls up to 200mm in diameter, can be mounted on the left or the right of the unit. For applications needing pre-printed tickets, a black-mark sensor is built into the paper channel, together with a tension unit that operates as a clutch and prevents the paper roll from unwinding after high-speed prints.
USB drivers for Windows and Linux are provided. Many fonts are embedded, and 20 additional fonts in character sizes from 6x8 to 64x64 dots can be downloaded. Up to 20 user fonts and 20 bitmap images can be stored in flash memory. The sophisticated firmware and software tools can monitor printer status and perform upload and download of printer settings to save time when configuring a batch of printers.
