KEMET Electronics KONNEKT U2J SMD MLCC capacitors are used in Google’s open source STC-Switched Tank DC-DC converter design. The devices are now available from Mouser. The STC converter design is for use where conversion efficiency is crucial for cost-efficient 48V power architecture. These capacitors are intended for high-efficiency and high-density power applications. The capacitors use innovative Transient Liquid Phase Sintering to create a leadless multi-chip solution. These U2J capacitors allow a low-loss and low-inductance package capable of handling extremely high ripple currents in the hundreds of kilohertz.
The capacitors can be mounted in a low-loss orientation to increase its power handling capability. The low-loss orientation enhances thermal performance by reducing the thermal resistance and lessens the ESR from the standard orientation. These ceramic capacitors are commercial grade, lead-free, RoHS, and REACH compliant.
Applications for the devices include PLL, IoT, data acquisition, wireless charging, and sensors.
