Mouser is now stocking the Maxim Integrated MAX22190 octal industrial digital input device. Created to lessen power, system cost and size for PLC digital-input subsystems, the device is a highly integrated IEC61131-2-compliant digital input product for process, industrial, and building automation applications. The device translates eight 24V, current-sinking industrial inputs to a serialised SPI-compatible output that interfaces with 3V to 5.5V logic. The fault-tolerant, 5mm x 5mm device includes a current-setting resistor, enabling engineers to configure the product for IEC61131-2 Type 1, 2, or 3 inputs. For robust operation in industrial environments, every input comprises a programmable glitch filter with an independent delay on every channel that engineers can program to one of eight values between 50 µs and 20 ms or filter bypass. The device also provides input protection to ±40V, overtemperature detection, wire break detection, and CRC communication error. Built-in surge protection of more than 1kV adds to heightened system robustness and removes up to eight external TVS diodes, helping to decrease solution footprint to empower adaptive manufacturing. The device is supported by the MAX22190 evaluation system, which incorporates a Digilent Pmod-compatible connector for SPI communication and a USBPMB2# adapter board for communicating with a PC.
