Test & Measurement
The new HP-01 magnetometer from Link Microtek affords a straightforward means of taking safety measurements in workplaces where personnel are at risk from the effects of static or time-varying magnetic fields.
The device is manufactured by Narda Safety Test Solutions and features a remarkably wide measurement range of 10µT to 10T, while built-in orthogonally mounted Hall-effect sensors enable the field to be determined with a single measurement in any direction.
The device is perfect for taking measurements to ensure compliance with the Control of Electromagnetic Fields at Work Regulations 2016, which are the transposition into UK law of EU Directive 2013/35/EU. The magnetometer can help to avoid hazards due to the indirect effects of strong magnetic fields, such as projectile risk or interference with active implanted or body-worn medical devices such as pacemakers and infusion pumps.
Typical areas where strong magnetic fields may be encountered include medical applications such as DC motors in electric trains, magnetic resonance imaging, and industrial processes involving the use of large magnetic stirrers, strong permanent magnets or electrolysis.
The device is powered by rechargeable Li-ion batteries with a typical operating time of six hours, weighing just 100g, with overall dimensions of 43mm (D) x 200mm (L) and can be used in ambient temperatures ranging from -20C to 55C.
