IoT connectivity portfolio cuts Wi-Fi power consumption in half

28-01-2019 | Silicon Labs | New Technologies

Silicon Labs has expanded its Wi-Fi portfolio of modules and transceivers, allowing developers to build end node products with best-in-class power efficiency, excellent RF blocking performance and advanced security. Created for the specific needs of IoT applications, the Wireless Gecko portfolio cuts Wi-Fi power consumption in half in comparison to competing offerings, giving ideal Wi-Fi solutions for power-sensitive connected products, including point-of-sale scanners, battery-operated IP security cameras, asset trackers and personal medical devices. “Our Wi-Fi portfolio enables IoT product designs that weren’t possible until now,” said Matt Johnson, senior vice president and general manager of IoT products at Silicon Labs. “IoT developers now have a Wi-Fi solution that is truly optimized for their application requirements and addresses their major concerns around power, RF performance, size and security.”
