The TPSM846C24 power module from Texas Instruments is a 35A module featuring overcurrent protection and is intended for compact PCI/PCIe, point-of-load, broadband, and medical equipment applications. The device is a fixed-frequency, 35A, step-down power module that combines a controller, inductor, power MOSFETs, and associated components into a thermally enhanced, surface-mount package. Setting the operating parameters of the module needs only input and output capacitors as well as a few other passive components. Engineers can obtain a two-phase power solution by configuring two modules to work in parallel up to 70A with current sharing. The device works at an junction temperature range of -40C to 125C, and is available in a 15mm x 16mm footprint that is easy to solder onto a PCB and enables a compact, point-of-load design. The module is supported by the TPSM846C24EVM-006 and TPSM846C24EVM-007 evaluation modules. Both evaluation modules offer test points and jumpers to promote easy testing. The TPSM846C24EVM-006 comprises a single TPSM846C24 module, while the TPSM846C24EVM-007 offers two TPSM846C24 modules working in parallel to allow up to 70A output current.
