Compact form factors for DC link applications

TDK Corporation has increased their portfolio of EPCOS film capacitors for DC link applications with the B3277*X/Y/Z series. The new capacitors offer compact dimensions, high capacitance density and high current capability. They are created for rated voltages of between 500VDC and 1200VDC. The series provides many standard capacitance values within the range from 1.5μF to 170μF.

Depending on the voltage and capacitance, their lead spacings are 27.5mm, 37.5mm and 52.5mm, with both four-pin or two-pin versions offered for each lead spacing. The maximum operating temperature of these RoHS-compatible components is 105C. At a rated voltage and an operating temperature of 85C, the expected service life of the self-healing capacitors is 60,000 hours.

The devices are ideal for employment in DC link circuits, as DC filters and for power factor correction for industrial converters, and power supplies with higher reliability demands. These applications include X-ray equipment, LED street lighting, induction hobs and electrical chargers.
