Load switches provide robust protection against fault cases

Texas Instruments TPS22948 Load Switches offer robust protection against fault cases with output current limiting, reverse current blocking, and thermal shutdown.

The switch ON state is managed by a digital input that can interface directly with low-voltage control signals. When power is initially applied, a smart pull-down is employed to keep the ON pin from floating until system sequencing is concluded. Once the pin is intentionally driven high (>VIH), the smart pull-down is disconnected to stop unnecessary power loss.

The load switches are characterised for operation over a temperature range of –40C to +125C and offered in a standard SC-70 package.

Typical applications include personal electronics, set-top boxes, HDMI output ports, Notebook, desktop PCs, and docking stations.
