The Texas Instruments TPS62866 is a high-frequency synchronous step-down converter with an I2C interface that helps users reduce power supply and solution size, providing excellent efficiency and high-performance features to dynamically adjust the output voltage.
The device is in a tiny 1.05mm x 1.78mm WCSP package, with 1% output accuracy with 5mV resolution for dynamic voltage scaling over the full -40C to 125C temperature range. The device provides up to 90% efficiency for common core voltage supplies.
The TPS62864/6 converters deliver an adaptive, efficient, and high power-density solution. At medium to heavy loads, the device functions in PWM mode and automatically begins Power Save Mode operation at light load to sustain high efficiency over the complete load current range. The device can also be forced in PWM mode operation for the smallest output voltage ripple. Together with its DCS-control architecture, superior load transient performance and tight output voltage accuracy are delivered. Via the I2C interface and a dedicated VID pin, the output voltage is swiftly adjusted to adapt the load’s power consumption to the ever-changing performance demands of the application.
