DIN rail type buffer modules suitable for industrial control systems

MEAN WELL DBUF20/40 Series DIN Rail Type Buffer Modules, available from Mouser, can be employed with DIN rail power supplies to give short-term backup for the load. The units enter the buffer mode when the AC mains power is momentarily suspended or interrupted, and the function offers stable 24VDC to extend the system operation time and the buffer time depends on the load current. The DBUF20 can maintain 20A load for 350ms, and the DBUF40 can maintain 40A load for 250ms.

The main feature is to give a short buffer time through the internal electrolytic capacitor energy storage. The system does not have an external battery, meaning system maintenance costs are reduced. These modules come with comprehensive protection features including over-voltage, over-current and short circuit protections and can be connected in parallel to improve the output ampacity or the hold-up time.
