Murata has announced the compatibility of its MBN52832 embedded Bluetooth module with VitaNet Suite, a secure IoT platform from VitaNet, which claims to deliver the world’s first solution for the automatic identification and authentication of BLE, IoT devices.
The addition of this middleware into the module gives BLE IoT device manufacturers simple access to the conversion of industrial components into secure IoT devices, allowing functionality such as remote status monitoring and automated data collection. In light of the COVID-19 pandemic, the decrease of manual intervention is crucial, making cloud-based, remote and secure control of industrial equipment more important than ever.
The solution is based on the attachment of a QR code comprising device information on pumps, motors, and other industrial components, which removes the requirement for the LCD panel or operation buttons previously needed for Bluetooth operation. A VitaNet authentication key request is needed only once, at system initialisation, with cached authentication key information utilised during consequent operation. This is the first time in the industry that security and pairing have been automated and integrated with AES-128 packet encryption supported by the Bluetooth standard.
Including the Murata module enables encrypted two-way communication with IoT devices to be performed from a cloud server, allowing secure remote control and management of large numbers of IoT devices, incorporating alive monitoring, automatic data collection, and other operational tasks.
