Kyocera Corporation has announced its new 5811 Series Board-to-Board connectors, miniaturised to be about 50% smaller than traditional products and optimised for wearable devices. The new series connectors feature a 0.35mm-pitch to save space and perform well in high current. The devices are highly durable.

The new connectors’ miniaturised size (1.7mm width x 3.6mm length) is optimised for wearables, handheld game consoles and other smaller electronics. The flat stacking structure retains durability, workability when stacking, and reduces damage despite its small 0.6mm stack height. Also, it is resistant to the high current needed for connectors making them an ideal design for battery connection.

Despite its ultra-compact design, it is extremely durable and optimised to perform in high current (3A/Power Terminal). The plug stacking surface offers an even, flat shape and the receptacle is a concave shape with no central convexity to enhance insertion guidance and stop damage during mating. To satisfy customer demands for wearable devices, the series can accommodate one to five signal pins and two power pins.

The new series clicks during stacking to ensure proper mating. Also, it does not easily detach due to the high retention force.
