Onsemi offers a new 1/1.7" 8.3 MP CMOS digital image sensor with a rolling shutter and eHDR technology.
The AR0821CS satisfies the various demands of commercial, consumer and industrial applications by offering superior image quality in challenging lighting conditions. These applications cover scanners/readers, high-end drones, dashboard cameras, machine vision cameras, and smart building surveillance/security systems.
With a host of versatile features, it delivers 4K video with 8.3MP resolution at 60fps while consuming very low power. The advanced sensor includes a 2.1µm DR−Pix BSI pixel design exclusive to the company, which allows high quantum efficiency, as well as on-chip HDR (eHDR) technology that offers best-in-class dynamic range over 140dB. The high-quality image data reduces processing needs, following in a faster and more cost-effective camera system.
The superior pixel design of the device delivers detailed images even in bright daylight or low light conditions. With multiple subsampling modes, it optimises the amount of data transmitted to offer images at a faster rate as required by the intended application.
The device is supported by the AP1302 co-processor and ISP and SoC devices from the company's technology partners. Moreover, the DevSuite software offers an integrated platform to develop AR0821CS-based camera systems. Within the software, it provides custom firmware to facilitate system developers to complete their camera designs with minimum effort and deliver their products to market quickly.
"The integration of the new AR0821CS sensor from onsemi into our dart camera family is a significant step towards having a superior solution component for customer projects with HDR requirements. We have already noticed that the high-performance sensor is important for the successful implementation of new applications in light-sensitive conditions," said Malene Fricke, head of Module Business at Basler.
