Ethernet connectivity for sensors in confined spaces

binder provides connectors with D-coding in the M8 form factor as part of its 818 product series. The products are excellent for Industrial Ethernet applications with communication protocols including EtherCAT, EtherNet/IP or PROFINET according to IEEE 802.3 through twisted-pair cables of the Cat-5e category. Accordingly, the four-pin connectors allow the network connection of actuators and sensors of unusually small size with data rates of up to 100Mbit/s.

The series products satisfy the needs of data transmission in industrial Ethernet networks. Furnished with screw locking, the electromechanical connection satisfies the specifications of protection degree IP67 when mated and locked. It, therefore, provides adequate protection against the effects of harsh industrial environments.

Beyond data communication, the connectors take on the control of power supply in accordance with the IEEE 802.3at standard (Power-over-Ethernet-Plus, PoE+) to the connected devices.

The connectors are supplied with gold-plated and symmetrically arranged contacts and are intended for more than 100 mating cycles. A rated voltage of 63VDC, a rated current of 4A, and a rated surge voltage of 1500V are specified for the products. The operating temperature range extends from -25C to +85C (idle state).

Shieldable products with screw termination and shielded, moulded cable connectors are available. While the former has a 4mm to 5.5mm cable outlet and are intended for 0.14mm2 to 0.5mm2 conductors, the wire gauge of the moulded variants is 0.34mm2 (AWG 22).

As well as straight male and female connectors, shieldable, angled flange versions are also available.
