Battery manager evaluation module provides a complete system

Texas Instruments bq27Z746EVM-047 Battery Manager Evaluation Module (EVM), available now from Mouser, is a complete system for evaluating the bq27Z746 battery manager. The evaluation module includes the manager with integrated protection circuit module and a link to Windows-based PC software. The module IC and all onboard components are supplied to monitor critical cell parameters and predict cell capacity and state of health. It also shields the cells from overcharge, over-discharge, short-circuit, and over-current in 1-series cell Li-Ion or Li-polymer battery packs.

The module can read bq27Z746 data registers, program the module for different pack configurations, and log cycling data for further evaluation. It can also evaluate the overall functionality of the solution under other charge and discharge conditions using an I2C communication protocol, EV2400, and bqStudio software GUI.

It features easy to use Impedance Track technology gas gauge with protection FETs control. The module provides accurate cell current, temperature, and voltage monitoring and has charger battery sensing capability. Hardware and firmware voltage, current, and temperature protection is included.
