Duagon has introduced the new G28, a 3U CompactPCI Serial CPU board offering the 11th generation Intel Core and Intel Xeon W-11000E Series processors and Tiger Lake-H CPUs. With up to eight cores and up to 64GB RAM, the single board computer is ideal for high-end embedded computing rail onboard, rail wayside, and the medical and critical automation industry. Optional 10Gb Ethernet interfaces provide for high data throughput and direct connection to the network backbone.

One of the key benefits of the board is its scalability. Up to 64GB DDR4 DRAM with ECC is supported. It is soldered to the board, the components are underfilled and coated to ensure optimum shock, vibration resistance and durability against severe environmental conditions. Further, the CPU scalability from 25W to 45W TDP and four to eight cores enables operation in ambient temperatures of up to +85C with active cooling. Therefore, different environmental conditions and market applications may be covered with just one rugged, single computing platform.

With rail onboard markets, the device is employed as central maintenance and virtualisation platform and main computing unit for passenger Wi-Fi and internet access. The SBC is utilised for condition monitoring as part of a rail wayside server system. In medical applications, it provides reliable computing performance for surgical robots and factory automation, motion control and robotics in industrial automation applications.

Since another key aspect of embedded computing is system security, a TPM 2.0 is assembled on the board to offer support for remote device authentication, measured boot, and secure updates. Also, an independent BMC monitors onboard voltages, current and temperature and performs dedicated tasks such as external watchdog management, power supply control and reset handling.

For I/O connections, it provides three RJ45 or two M12 Ethernet front connectors, one USB 3.2 Gen 2 x 1 connector and one USB-C connector for one USB 3.2 Gen 2 x 1 and one DisplayPort. Main backplane interfaces include four SATA (6GB), eight PCIe 3.0 root ports with varied lane configurations x1, x4, x8, and two 1 Gb Ethernet ports.

Supported operating systems incorporate Linux Yocto Project distributions, Windows 10 IoT Enterprise 64-bit, and real-time operating systems that support Intel's multi-core architecture. Long-term availability of the components of a minimum of ten years provides an extended product life and future safety. It is backwards compatible with the predecessor products G25, G25A and G23.
