MikroElektronika (MIKROE) has released GPS 5 Click - the latest in its ever-growing 1000+ strong lineup of compact add-on Click boards - offering positioning, navigation, and timing services.

This board provides the M20050-1, a compact GPS module receiver employing the MediaTek MT3333 flash chip, supplying a complete GNSS receiver for optimum performance from Antenova. The receiver tracks three GNSS constellations concurrently (GPS+Galileo+GLONASS or GPS+Beidou) to greatly improve location and TTFF and has configurable low-power modes working from a 3.3V power supply. As well as the possibility of utilising an external antenna, backup power, and various visual indicators, the new board also has an accurate 0.5ppm TXCO providing short TTFF alongside multi-path algorithms, which enhances position accuracy in inner-city environments.

Click boards are a modular prototyping add-on board standard invented by the company, revolutionising how users add new functionalities to development boards. They allow design engineers to change peripherals effortlessly, cutting months off development time. To permit hundreds of Click boards to be connected to the microcontroller or microprocessor, the company invented a socket standard – mikroBUS. This uniform connection interface instantly allows users to connect any Click boards to a main board. The company releases a new Click board almost every day, and many leading microcontroller companies, including Microchip, NXP, Infineon, Dialog, STM, Analog Devices, Renesas and Toshiba, now include the mikroBUS socket on their development boards.
