Rohde & Schwarz offers improved performance for phase noise analysis and VCO measurements. This high-end R&S FSWP phase noise analyser and VCO tester, as well as signal and spectrum analyser in one instrument, and the R&S FSPN dedicated phase noise analyser and VCO tester, have now been upgraded. Simultaneous hardware and software upgrades enhance the market-leading performance even further, decreasing noise levels and measurement times and increasing accuracy. These analysers include test sequence recording functions (SCPI recorder), unique in this instrument class.
The new hardware basis common to these phase noise analysers comprises upgraded DC sources with lowered noise levels, further enhancing market-leading sensitivity. Users can appreciate the enhanced capacitive screen providing a higher colour intensity and better antiglare properties, making the display brighter and clearer in all working conditions. Also, multi-touch features such as zoom are supported by the updated user interface. Any possible cross-spectral collapse is now suppressed for very low noise oscillators, with the inherent noise largely thermal at wider offsets. In particular, for production usage, higher measurement speed for VCO measurements will assist in reducing the cost of testing. With the newly introduced SCPI command recorder, the company implements for the first time a function with phase noise measurement equipment to record sequences of manual settings. Utilising the command recorder, engineers can produce easily repeatable test sequences, including the required synchronisation to operate correctly.
