Extremely compact safety class S2 motor-run capacitors

26-01-2023 | TDK | Passives

TDK Corporation has announced its new B33331I6* series of compact EPCOS motor-run capacitors that comply with safety class S2 and the IEC 60335-2-24 standard, which will be available in September 2023.

The robust aluminium cans have remarkably compact dimensions, making the series the most compact motor-run capacitors currently available. Depending on the capacitance, the diameters are just 30mm or 35mm, and the heights vary between 73mm and 103mm, including the connections. They are created for a voltage of 450VAC at 50/60Hz, and, with 13 types, cover a capacitance range from 1μF to 20μF.

The self-healing resin-filled capacitors are provided with internal overpressure breakaway protection and are developed for a lifetime of 10,000 hours at 450VAC. Standard connections are 2+2 fast-on connectors (6.3mm x 0.8mm) and can be altered to customer specifications. Versions with an M8 bolt at the bottom of the housing are also offered. All types have approvals according to UL and VDE and carry the CE mark.

Typical applications for these capacitors are compressor motors of refrigerators and freezers, and pumps in industrial applications.
