RECOM introduces wide-input 30W DC-DC in a miniature package. Packing a 30W rating into a 25.4mm x 25.4mm low-profile case, the new cost-effective REC30E-Z series also provides two wide input ranges, comprising 9-36V and 18-75VDC. The range does not compromise on performance offering efficiency peaks at over 90%, with 2kV/1 min isolation. They need no minimum load and offer a range of fully regulated single and dual outputs, incorporating 3.3V, 5V, 12V, 15V, 25V, +/-12V, and +/15VDC.

Due to their advanced thermal and circuit design, the parts function to high ambient temperatures, for example to 80C with no derating for the REC30E-4812SZ. With derating and/or airflow, higher temperatures are achievable up to the case limit of 105C. High efficiency is also sustained down to light loads for low standby losses. A shutdown control is incorporated with a +/-10% trim pin for single outputs.

Full protection is supplied against over-temperature together with output short circuits, over-current, and over-voltage while the inputs are surge-rated to 50V and 100V for the two ranges. The series incorporates safety certifications to IEC/EN 62368-1 and complies with EMC standard EN 55032 class A with no extra components and to class B with a simple external filter network. Reliability is generally over 500khrs according to MIL-HDBK 217F, GB at 25C.

The range with through-hole PCB mounting provides a rugged metal casing for outstanding thermal performance and shielding and is encapsulated for usage in Pollution Degree 2 harsh environments. Parts include a three-year warranty.

“These are full-featured DC-DCs despite their low cost and small size,” comments Matthew Dauterive, DC-DC product manager of RECOM. “This will make them attractive in cost-sensitive applications where board space is at a premium, but reliability and performance cannot be compromised”.
