Littelfuse, Inc has released the C&K SpaceSplice Series Wire Connecting Solution, developed to replace manual splicing processes in harsh environments. These connectors supply a standardised, easy-to-use, high-reliability solution manufactured to the highest standards.

The connectors are a unique solution to wire-to-wire connection, developed to replace hand splice processes with a standardised solution that decreases labour time and is simple to use. It enables the connection of two wires using a D*MA crimpable and removable contact technology. It is designed to receive the most relevant gauges, lowering cost and providing that only the required wires are used.

Designed to fulfil the highest quality requirements, it is ideal for demanding wiring systems, including defence and aerospace applications such as satellites, launchers and payloads, heaters, thermistors, multilayer insulator connections, and other harsh environment applications.

"The SpaceSplice connectors design provides a high-reliability solution that replaces manual splicing processes, offering a standardised alternative that is easy to use, reducing labour time and cost while increasing reliability," said Rémi Antoine, global product manager at C&K Aerospace, now part of Littelfuse.

With its unique design, the solution offers removable crimp contacts, supplying removable D*MA crimpable contact technology, allowing for manual and guiding-tool-assisted insertion. It accepts the most popular cable gauges (AWG 20 – AWG 30), providing high radiation and temperature resistance with low residual magnetism and low degassing. The solution complies with European Space Agency (ESA/ESCC 3401/097) specifications.

This wire connecting solution is provided in a one-way series that connects two wires with a standard solution and a four-way series that is a stackable wire-to-wire connector with removable contacts, which can be advantageous in space applications where more than four ways are needed.
