Improved reliability, higher voltage, and power: With the XLR-16R2507B-R (16V/ 500F) and XLR-18R0507B-R (18V/500F) supercapacitor modules, EATON provides greatly optimised successor models for the previous XLR-16R2507-R series. Due to their low self-discharge and low leakage current, the modules also offer a longer service life. Thanks to the IP65 housing and stable performance at operating temperatures between -40C and +85C, they are predestined for use in harsh environments. The supercapacitor modules and other products from the company are available from Rutronik.
The supercapacitor modules can be employed as a stand-alone energy storage device or with batteries to optimise cost, lifetime, and uptime. System requirements can range from a few microwatts to megawatts.
Furthermore, they have extruded aluminium sidewalls, which can deliver improved heat dissipation and mechanical stability. The laser-welded internal structure allows decreased overall weight and provides that ESR remains stably low throughout the lifetime and power density does not decrease – even when the component is subjected to shock and vibration over an extended period.
Typical applications include AGV, people mover/passenger transport systems, robotics, automation, VFD, generators, transportation systems, H2 fuel cell drives, and traction inverters.
