In the marine industry, complex systems, such as navigation and communication, are integrated to enhance daily operations on the water. These systems improve the efficiency of the industry’s processes worldwide. With heavy-duty seafaring operations taking place in demanding environments, reliable electronic devices are required, leaving engineers on the hunt for technology that can withstand harsh conditions without sacrificing performance. Because of this, devices that offer robust connectivity, a reliably rugged design and straightforward integration into marine systems are highly valued.

Available now from Impulse Embedded, the M-S models of embedded PCs from MOXA’s MC-3201 series can do just that. They are solid yet compact devices that are developed to meet the necessities of marine regulations, conforming to IEC 60945 and IACS E10 standards. Key features, such as integrated NMEA ports and a remote power switch, make the series a practical solution for marine system control.

A high-performance processor ensures the swift execution of tasks such as complex computations or high-volume data processing, thereby minimising downtime and maximising output.

Connectivity options include two serial ports, four Gigabit LAN ports, two USB 3.1 (type A) ports, four USB 2.0 (type A) ports, and four NMEA ports. The MC-3201 can easily integrate with other devices, allowing for smooth and uninterrupted operations in the system.

An energy-efficient design reduces power consumption despite its high performance. This lowers operational costs and supports environmentally friendly practices.

A built-in TPM2.0 module means sensitive data is securely stored using cryptography and protected from unauthorised access.

The MC-3201 complies with marine standards that ensure it is safe and suitable for the intensity of marine environments. This includes IEC 60945, which sets the minimum performance requirements for navigation and radiocommunication equipment. IACS E10 is a test specification that demonstrates the device’s ability to function as intended under specific testing conditions for electromagnetic compatibility, operating temperature range, shock/vibration protection and more.

Its lightweight build ensures portability, while its durable, rugged structure guarantees long-term use. The device weighs just 1.4kg, making it easy to transport to its desired location and ideal for installation in a wide variety of locations.

Aside from the design features of the series, the computer also comes with the peace of mind of a three-year warranty period, meaning the network infrastructure will remain protected against manufacturing defects and operational issues.
