KEMET's aluminium polymer rectangular capacitors of the APL90 series are now extending the Rutronik portfolio. The capacitors are AEC-Q200 qualified and are suitable for fulfilling the needs of 48V vehicle applications and platforms that require compact designs. The series currently provides a high capacitance of 1,100µF, a rated voltage of 63VDC, good vibration resistance and high ripple current capability. An important application area for the series is the automotive sector, e.g., as a DC link in 48V inverters for MHEVs. These capacitors are also ideally suited for use in data centres, e.g., as input capacitors in power supply units for 48V systems.

The component delivers excellent volumetric efficiency, ideal for operating temperatures from -55C to +125C. Its shape is suitable for efficient module arrangement and can be positioned horizontally and vertically. The rectangular shape permits easy use with a heat sink either along the large surface of the aluminium housing or along its thickness.

The series offers easy use of multiple heatsink options for optimising IAC and provides a solution for designs with limited heights. It provides a lifetime of 2,000 hours at +125C (with VR and IR applied), high vibration up to 20g, and excellent ripple current capability up to 26A.

Typical application examples include power inverters, wall boxes, water pumps, power steering, and fans; for data centres, it supplies input capacitors for 48V system power supplies.
