Perle Systems has introduced a series of IOLAN SCR Console Servers that set a new standard for secure out-of-band management solutions. With cutting-edge network operations capabilities, the series provides unparalleled network resilience and streamlined device management across all data centres.
"Perle is dedicated to actively engaging with our customers, predicting market demands, and consistently providing exceptional value. The new IOLAN SCR Console Servers mark a significant advancement in console server technology," said John Feeney, chief operating officer at Perle Systems. "With the rising complexities in modern data centres, we understand the importance of having a robust management plane that can be accessed securely, anytime and anywhere. We are excited to offer our customers a solution that enhances their operational efficiency and ensures the highest level of data protection."
The servers have 24, 40, or 56 console management ports to host RS232, Ethernet, and USB-connected devices from multiple vendors. Users can, therefore, reduce the number of management nodes with an IOLAN SCR as their single appliance for comprehensive, secure remote access to all infrastructure equipment for more intelligent out-of-band management.
Designed to be a complete top-of-rack management solution, the Console Server can establish a secure management plane. Access to a robust suite of intuitive automation tools empowers administrators to scale deployments seamlessly, edit configurations, update firmware, monitor system health, schedule tasks, and automate routine actions. For advanced automation, the IOLAN SCR x86 CPU can easily run custom applications, including Python scripts, inside native Docker Containers and VMs to suit unique or evolving use cases with low latency and real-time responsiveness.
The optional cellular connectivity provides predictive failover capability, allowing smooth transitions between wired and wireless management planes. This seamless interplay ensures the reliability and availability of critical IT infrastructure components, with rapid recovery lowering the impact of network incidents.
A resilient data centre also needs unbeatable security. With the integrated Perle‑ARMOR security shield, developers can efficiently configure access controls, authentication mechanisms, and encryption protocols in compliance with all standards-based corporate policies and regulations. This simplifies security tuning and ensures only authorised personnel can manage the network devices. It also enhances data packet performance on non-management interfaces, contributing to overall network efficiency.
The SCRs also feature Zero Touch Provisioning (ZTP) and complete IPv4/IPv6 routing capabilities with extensive protocol support, including VRRP, RIP, OSPF, and BGP. No other OOBM Console Server on the market provides administrators with this level of comfort and familiarity for easy network integration.
