New design service to create cost-effective and high-performance embedded systems

The newly introduced SEGGER Design Service helps companies that wish to develop new or next-generation products or re-engineer existing ones to create cost-effective applications precisely tailored to their needs.

Often, the best solution is an MCU-based, deeply embedded solution. An embedded system can minimise cost and power consumption and will generally have a much faster boot time than a larger Linux/Android-based system.

The design starts with the right embedded software. The company's emPower OS provides a robust solution and serves as a solid foundation. It can design and produce prototypes and, if desired, take the hardware design to production.

"Many products use large operating systems with massive memory requirements when a less complex system, powered by a single-chip microcontroller, could have better reaction times, be safer, run more efficiently, and cost significantly less," says Rolf Segger, founder of SEGGER. "Companies often overlook exploring the microcontroller option because either it is not how they have done it in the past or they simply don't have the knowledge and experience of the designs and software available. The SEGGER Design Service enables anyone to build and benefit from an embedded system."

With the company's 30-plus years of experience developing embedded applications, the service focuses on providing customised MCU-based solutions. Beginning with a comprehensive analysis of project requirements, its Embedded Experts work with customers to select core components and develop the core application framework.

Because the service works to reduce cost per unit, it can be extremely beneficial for clients with mass production setups. The service also provides a long-term maintenance option.
