New junction box offers extra-value options and saves time with easy installation

Hylec-APL has released Debox V, a new extra-value variant to its Debox cable junction box series. Its Debox junction box range is well known among electrical installers for being supplied complete-for-use, making connections quicker and easier and saving them time and money. However, the company's research has shown that many electricians carry boxes of standard connectors, which they often prefer.

The new product offers the same time-saving features and ease of installation as other Debox junction boxes – but is supplied without connectors, supplying an extra-value option for electricians who carry and prefer to use their own connectors. It also provides a secure way to house ready-terminated connectors within a quick-to-install enclosure using the electrician's preferred lever connectors.

Debox advantages include screwless connections with no fiddly screws to lose in poorly lit installation situations. It offers 100% tool-free assembly, including unique built-in tool-less cable restraints. It provides a snap-close lid with locking clip (and spare) and fold-out fixing lugs, offering a maintenance-free operation. The box also passes pull test EN 60670-22 and cable retention test EN 60670-1-7.41, and conforms to the EN 60598-1 (13.2.2) glow wire test and has a flame retardant housing to UL 94 V-0.

The product measures a compact 107mm (L) x 47mm (W) x 35mm (H) and is manufactured from white polypropylene. It has a maximum current rating of 32A and a temperature rating from -20C to +85C. The design is suitable for joining either flat or round profile cable, with a minimum conductor size of 0.25mm and a maximum of 4mm.

The product joins the other successful and Debox in-line junction box products: the original all-in-one Debox S; Debox SL, the first-ever completely tool-free in-line electrical junction box; Debox SL2, the smallest junction box available with 5 x 3-pole connectors; Debox SM40, the first four-pole in-line junction box that fits through a 40mm aperture, making it ideal for use in LED lighting applications; and Debox 11, the surface-mounted junction box for external weatherproof applications. With each model fulfilling different application use cases, the in-line junction box family's registered design features deliver faster, more efficient, cheaper installation through its simple and virtually tool-free use.
