Transformers for charging station and EV communication

Communication between charging stations and EVs via an interface compliant with EN ISO 15118 is fundamental for the public charging infrastructure. Würth Elektronik now offers the WE-PLC product series of high-quality SMT transformers for PLC.

The new transformers are excellent for galvanic isolation of the PLC system from the power supply. They are designed for data signals between 500kHz and 30MHz and reliably isolate the low-voltage range from the high-voltage range.

The series provides an extremely high test voltage of 4500VRMS for transformers of this package size (13.6mm × 9.9mm footprint). Thanks to their high-quality design, they provide notably lower leakage inductance (maximum 0.2µH) than competing products. The components ensure good magnetic coupling for precise data transmission.

The transformers are offered with turns ratios of 1:1:1 and 1:4:3 for EV charging and AC interfaces for grid communication. The operating voltage is up to 250VAC.
