UWB Bluetooth LE module for real-time location applications

23-09-2024 | Mouser Electronics | Industrial

Mouser now stocks the new ISP3080 UWB BLE module from Insight SiP. The highly miniaturised module is an ideal stand-alone ranging solution for consumer, industrial and medical RTLS, access control, and indoor positioning applications.

The module combines a Qorvo QM33110 UWB transceiver and a Nordic Semiconductor nRF52833 multi-protocol chip to create a 2.4GHz wireless SoC, integrating a 32-bit Arm Cortex M4 CPU, 512kB flash memory and 128kB RAM, together with BLE and dual-band (5 and 9) UWB antennas, to deliver global coverage in a single device. Despite its small size (12mm x 12mm x 1.5mm), the module integrates decoupling capacitors (38.4MHz crystal for UWB, 32MHz and 32.768kHz crystals for BLE), DC-DC converters, RF matching circuits and two antennas in addition to the wireless SoCs. Low power consumption and advanced power management allow battery lifetimes of up to several months on a single coin-cell battery.

The company also supplies the Insight ISP3080 development boards, which can be employed as stand-alone PCBs or included in an evaluation kit. These boards deliver a full hardware and software development environment for the ISP3080 module.
