New line of outdoor AC load centres for small-cell sites

Transtector has added SC-2MMA9 outdoor AC load centres for small-cell sites to its line. The new improved integrated panel design can connect directly to a utility service and provides tailored circuit breaker configurations for all typical small-cell equipment deployments. It also offers integrated surge protection and options to equip a GFCI convenience outlet and a shunt-trip-style main breaker for external de-energisation of AC power.

These compact, field-configurable load centres are developed for various applications, including cellular/telecom, broadband, small cells, picocells, microcells, 5G nodes, right-of-way expansion, and DAS systems. There is enough power capacity to operate all small-cell architectures, including multi-tenant (co-location) sites.

All new AC load centres have a 100A two-pole main breaker for 120/240VAC split-phase services. These panels can also be equipped with a high-current branch breaker up to 60A two-pole for sub-panel or right-of-way (ROW) expansion. They are all UL67 listed and service entrance rated, suitable for use as service equipment (SUSE). The SUSE rating eradicates the necessity for a separate upstream disconnect box, saving cost and space.

Installers can customise a circuit breaker configuration for various equipment by implementing up to 14 one-pole or up to seven two-pole load breakers. Five base models are available, with multiple combinations of 10, 15, 20, 25, or 60A load or branch breakers with one or two poles.

To safeguard against lightning and utility switching transients, all models employ the company's surge protection, which uses high-capacity MOV technology with a very low voltage protection level.

All the new AC load centres carry a NEMA 3R environmental protection rating. Weatherproof gaskets and seals prevent water from ingressing around the door, including under falling rain, sleet, and snow. Their 9"-wide profile enables them to be discretely installed externally on poles or within integrated pole structures. The galvanised, powder-coated steel cabinets include a padlock hasp for security.

"Our new outdoor AC load centres will economically power and protect your small-cell site," said product line manager Dan Rebeck. "They also let you easily reconfigure the panel in the field as the needs of each of your sites evolve."
