Voltage rating options extended for four-terminal snap-in aluminium electrolytic capacitors

Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. extends its 299 PHL-4TSI snap-in, four-terminal aluminium electrolytic capacitor family with new 350V, 500V, 550V, and 600V rated capacitors that significantly expand the range of capacitance-voltage combinations obtainable by designers. Designed for power supplies and industrial and home appliance inverters, the Vishay BCcomponents 299 PHL-4TSI series decreases component counts and lowers costs while improving mechanical stability and end-product lifetimes.

Featuring a cylindrical aluminium case with pressure relief and insulated with a blue sleeve, the capacitors offer high ripple current ratings from 1.9A to 7.6A, permitting designers to use fewer components to meet application needs. They also have a high 105C temperature capability and a long useful life of >5000h while still being able to withstand high ripple currents.

The four-terminal snap-in capacitors can replace banks of large screw terminal capacitors connected by a bus-bar with smaller parts connected by a PCB. This greatly lowers construction costs and allows soldering processing instead of manual mounting. With larger can sizes than standard two-terminal snap-in capacitors – ranging from 35mm x 50mm to 45mm x 100mm – the series limits the number of components required.

Polarised aluminium electrolytic capacitors with a non-solid electrolyte are ideal for smoothing, filtering, and energy storage. The capacitors are Reach, and RoHS-compliant and their four-terminal configuration provides increased mechanical stability and keyed polarity.
