Wire-to-board connectors provide high power density in data centre applications

Mouser now stocks UltraWize wire-to-board power connectors from Molex. These power connectors are specifically designed for demanding data centre environments, delivering reliable, space-saving power distribution in servers (GPU), switches and other data centre applications.

The wire-to-board power connectors employ COEUR socket technology with conical sockets to ensure a large conductive surface area. This design decreases voltage drop and contact resistance, minimising heat generation and allowing high current capacity in data centres. These connectors deliver up to 170A of power while featuring a cable-side exit configuration that eradicates the cable-bend radius and decreases stack height. With a staggered-pin design, the connectors occupy less space on the PCB, leaving room for further components.

These connectors, with SMT reflow-capable headers in a pick-and-place package, decrease processing costs and accelerate time to market. A positive lock prevents the connector from accidentally unmating and helps ensure the uninterrupted power required by data centres. The power connectors offer a UL 94V-0 flammability rating and an operating temperature range of -40C to 125C.
